Dr. Walls recommended a specific surgery tailored to my laxity problem and advised against shaving bones, which he said wouldn’t be ideal for my case. I sought a second opinion at HSS but was unhappy with the proposed plan that involved bone shaving and correcting a hammertoe that his PA had already said I didn’t have. Trusting my gut, I chose Dr. Walls, and it was the best decision.
The surgery went smoothly, and my entire experience at NYU—from pre-op to post-op—was exceptional. The nurses were kind and attentive, and Dr. Walls himself called me the day after surgery to check on me since he was busy on the day of the procedure. This level of care was truly remarkable and unlike anything I’ve experienced before.
Post-op communication with his staff exceeded all expectations. Everyone was incredibly responsive, Jenne Reynolds and Dr. Walls’ PA were amazing. When the nerve block wore off, and I had a bad reaction to my prescribed narcotic, Jenne quickly prescribed an alternative that helped both the pain and my sleep, which had been nearly impossible for two days. Mary Cassarrubias and Roseann Engle were wonderful in scheduling and rescheduling my appointments. They responded promptly to order and replace my splint when the original didn’t fit right.
I have recommended Dr. Walls to a friend who had bunion surgery at HSS but has needed repair for over a year with no response from her doctor’s office. The surgeon she saw was the same one I had my second opinion with, so I’m grateful to have found such a caring and professional team.
I am almost 6 weeks post-op, and I’m hopeful that at my next visit, I’ll be able to start physical therapy and get back to walking and doing normal activities again.
Dr. Walls and his staff deliver truly Class A care, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
